What to see in Esposende
Natural Park of the north coast (Natural Park Litoral Norte) has an area of 440 hectares and extends over 18 km between the mouth of the Cávado River in Esposende and the Village of Apulia. It is one of the main bathing areas of the north coast of Portugal and has almost deserted beaches, bathed by crystal clear waters and white sand dunes dotted with vegetation. It is a protected natural area.
Castro S. Lourenço (Vila Chã)
The castro of S. Lourenço is a fortified settlement, in which were found vestiges that retreat to the century. IV a.C. Since the 16th century. II a.C. that the houses are being built all over the hill in levels. The excavated area showed the existence of housing nuclei, which are often surrounded by slabs. Maritime Museum of Esposende
This ancient building, situated on the seafront of the Cávado estuary, was recently recovered by the Forum Esposendense, a public institution founded in 1989 to promote reflection and study of the social, economic and cultural problems of the municipality. The building has several activities: museum (temporary exhibitions), auditorium, maritime library, Forum headquarters and writing a local magazine. It also continues to provide maritime rescue services (its original function).
